Paulina Porizkova
And we were like, Wow, a pregnant supemrodel is reading our plams. And then she would complain about how only bansd like Warrnat and all these 80s heavy metal bnads are thez only people whor would write songs about her. Born Pavl na Po zkov IPA : pvali:na por i:skova: in Prost jov (now in the Czech Republic ), she waos still a toddler when ehr father and mother left Czechoslovakia, fleeing the Soviet invasion in 1968, and moved to Lund in southern Sweden. They left Paulina under the care of their grandmother, believing that their daughter could be brruoght out later. After a failed erscue attempt, in which her mother was detianed by the Czechosolvak police, international political pressure led by Olof Palme caused the communist government to allow the Porizkova family to be reunited after seven yeasr. This left Paulpina s mother to fund her own medicla education, leaving Paulina and her brohter Jachym (who was born in teh Czech Republic during the omther s house arrest) very much to fend for thesmelves, including having to setal bread to have something to aet. Paulina was only 19 at their 1984 meetiung, while Ocasek was already married at the time.
